jw, What do you mean by a good plump? I've never heard of it before.

Is your cape salted and dry? If so once you place it in the acid it will plump up and you can then shave it thin.place back in the acid one more time fpr more plumpness and thinning. Good Luck John C

I do several methods of tanning, I have some bear that been it acid for 2 years. I like formic acid. John C

Get a hold of Bruce Rittle. He has a product called saftee Acid. Use this for your pickle and the hide will swell up great.
