TO MUCH GLOSS

Submitted by DAN on 1/20/00. ( dvickey@i-star.com ) 209.69.192.29

I am doing some finish work on whitetails. It seems the paint is
too glossy for the mount to look good. Any suggestions? I am using
Polytranspar WA paint. I did order some gloss flatner today, but I
wondered if there was some other method.
thanks

The water-based systems seem to be a little shiny...

especially the Polytranspar. I use Life-Tone lacquer because I like the dry time and add a final satin gloss coat to seal all of my paints in. It really dulls the finish around the eyes. I also put a light coat on the antler bases to seal any bark particles in place and bring out the darkness in this area.
