African horned anymals

Submitted by Valentin Potchekansky,Bulgaria on 3/4/00. ( wasbg@mailcity.com ) 195.24.54.2

Hello everybody,
I would like to get advice from some experianced fellow on treating the
trophies of Hartebeest,Wildebeest,Impala and Cape Buffalo.
Is it's possible to take off the horns from the skulls, because I failed :^(
If not necessery, what preservative should be better to inject inside the cores?
How do you clean the horns, because of that they come very greasy from Africa?
What finish you apply on the horns?

Best wishes!
Valentin

African Horns

These horns dont come off of the cores. you can put any type of insecticide you like in between the core and the horn. As far as degreasing I've never had that problem. You can boil them for a short while. Then wire brush them thoroughly. I seal the gap between the core and the horn with bondo. I never put any finish on the horns. Good Luck.

Thanks
