I JUST GOT DONE PICKLING A GOAT AND A RAM BUT THEY STILL HAVE THAT TERRIBLE SMELL ABOUT THEM. WHAT CAN I DO TO BETTER THE SMELL?
THANKS FOR ANY INFO,
SHAWN
Obviously you did not prep the skin properly. The "goat" odor you smell won't be removed by the pickle. You should be able to remove the odor by cleaning prior to pickling. Check the archieves.
Shawn,
Try soaking the cape in Malagon. I recently purchased this odor neutralizer for use on a pronghorn and it worked great. Also, I ordered a cedar scented natural bug proofer from Van Dykes, and that stuff will hide most any odor. Didn't need it though, the Malagon worked fine. Good luck.
