I recently got back a wet tanned cape from the tannery and when I was mounting it noticed some hairs falling out as I groomed and taxi the hide. My question is how much is normal or acceptable?

A few hairs here, a few hairs there is something I dont get concered about. When it falls out in clumps and exposes the Dermis...theres a real problem and a need to be concerned!By the glare I give off my head,I would say that at one time, I had major slippage!
If you already have it mounted and groomed and you feel that you may have the beginnings of a problem, I would run fans on it 24-7 till it's completely dry. If possible, put it in a small confined room and run a de-humidifier to quickly remove all the moisture. Once dry,the skin will tighten up and grab or set the hair.
