I have had a problem with sending my pig capes to the tannery. Seems like everytime I get them back, they seem to loose a majority of their hair. At first, I thought it was the way I was skinning them: Shaving too much fat off before I salt them. Then I asked another local taxidermist and he has the same problem. Is it the tannery or am I not alone in this? Am I shaving too cloose to the actual skin? Should I go with another tannery? My deer capes turn out just fine...don't know why the pigs are coming out this way. Should I go to another tannery? Any info. would be great. thanks

speaking from experience its sounds like they are shaved to far with hogs haveing deep hair roots its easy done.tell the tannery not to shave as much and see how you go.
Try calling Tom Robinson. He is taxidermist who also does
tanning and he is reasonably priced. It doesn't hurt to try
him out. They are located in San Antonio TX and the number
is 210-735-9539. Hope I could help. J
