I have a set of mule deer antlers that were preserved by a hunting guide for a customer, I don't know any details on how they were preserved though. The velvet is pretty much dried, and when I brush the velvet it seems to be pretty set, no hairs fall off. Unfortunately, the velvet feels really greasy, probably from handling. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean this velvet without damaging it?

It evaporates very fast and will take off that oil.Put on gloves and swab it down with a saturated cloth scrap, change cloth often.
