My question is...what is the easiest way to remove sheep horns from the core?

And the safest (I've learned and now believe) is to put them in a plastic bag and set them in the corner for a few weeks. Take them outside, open the bag and they should slip right off.

just slip off. Then lay down a piece of 3/4 inch plywood on the floor; now take one horn in both hands raise it above your head and slam it down on the plywood striking the plywood with the thick front base of the other horn. (Slam it as hard as you can) . The horn will pop right off. Now reverse. Grab the core of the horn thats off and slam the other horn. I now this sounds scary. But a friend of mine who had a laarge shop in Alaska and did hundreds of sheep showed me this trick. It works great and I've never damaged a horn . Obviously don't hit the horns out near the ends rather at the bases. Just ggive the horns a couple weeks before doing this- but don't wait months. good man can pop these with one swing- it usually takes me 3 or 4.
