airbrushing around deer eyes

Submitted by dl on 2/7/02. ( ) 204.77.166.242

Currently when airbrushing my deer eyes I start with first coat of cover white then 2nd with burnt umber(coffee) and my final color I just dust lightly with black umber. Can any of you other taxidermists suggest something else.

It will give you some excellent ideas and paint schedules for finishing a whitetail.

I start with a light coat of Rich Brown. They I add a little Jet Black to the Rick Brown and paint this close to the eyes. Then I use pure jet black along the edge of the eye lids.

Check out the spring 2000 issue of Breakthrough. Bill Yox had an article on finishing whitetails that I have found very useful.
