Could someone help out a wanabe. I need some help on skinning out the paws on a Fischer. This is more practice than anything, but if things go well I would like to try mounting it. I have caped deer before but have never done any full mount skinning and not sure what to do with the paws.

Burke,
There s a couple ways to go about this. You can make your incision on the back side of the front legs, starting at the knee running it down to the pad. At this point, you can start tubing the foot out to the end of the toes, stopping at the nail, OR you can cut around the pad and tubing the toes out to the nails.Get all the gristle out of the pad. Rebuild the pads and the toes with either clay or an Epoxi Clay and sew him up. The same will apply to the back pads as well.
Hope this helps.
Have a good day,
Dave
