Recently I was asked to mount two deer heads. I skinned them both out and they are badly freezer burnt. The ears, mouth, nose, and the skin around the antlers are completely dry. What I am worried about is can I produce a good quality and good-looking mount with what I have? Should I try to work with what I have or get another deer cape? Thanks for any replies. Matt Zydron

Rittels has some great relaxer, inject it in the dried places and work it in a salt brine, dont know but it may work, its hard to say not knowing your skills or how bad they are.
Matt,
On badly freezer burned animals I inject these areas with warm water, flesh the best that you can and dry preserve. Be careful around the freezer burned area it will cut easily.
Good luck, J.L. Mooney
a pressure vessel will penetrate all but the worse freezer burned skins .
I wanna hear more about this..expound please!
