I will be entering my first competition whitetail deer head in a few weeks. I would like to get some advice on what to put on the deer horns, if anything, to give it a nice sheen. Or do they like it better natural in competition. I would also like to know what to put on the inside of the ears to make it look more life like. Do you put a semi-gloss lacquer to give it that 'waxy look' after they are painted?

Clean them up depending on the type of mount you did. Then in final grooming spray some hair sheen on them and wipe down. (Get at a saddle Shop)I wouldn't spray anything on them to give them a shine. My opinion. You might get others.
some judges will dock if unnatural deer in wild do not have sprayed antlers
