I received a bear hide back from the tannery and it has small bald spots on the face in the short hair area around the nose and eyes. I don't know what caused this, but I know it wasn't like that when I sent it. Are there any suggestions on how best to hide these spots in the final mount? Any help is appreciated.

you can patch it with chopped hair and superglue (or 5 min epox). cut the hair the same length as the surrounding area then place it over the glue. sometimes it's hard to lay the hair just right and the more you do it the better you get. I do prefer the 5 min epox myself as it is easy to manuver the hair around. also, shading it with dark paint helps to hide small spots.
