I was talking to a friend of mine this weekend who frequently travels abroad on hunting trips. He was telling me of an African hunt he was on last year and showed me his zebra skin that was hanging in the barn. I asked who did his African work and he told me he had it done in Africa, actually I think he was in South Africa. Anyway, he said that US customs would not let anyone ship African skins to the US because of potential parasites hitching a ride and he had to have them done there. I told him I was pretty sure someone there gave him bad info but I surely didn't know for sure. Any of you folks know for sure whats true and whats not?

You are correct. Someone was blowing smoke up your buddy's rear. All African hides must be dipped for bugs and pass USDA inspections and requirements to get here, but it's done all the time.
