What is a Nilgai Cape Worth?

Submitted by Mike Myrick on 07/26/2002. ( myrick@dashlink.com ) 208.169.183.193

I have a 22"-23" nilgai cape that is wet tanned that I would like to sell, but I have no idea what it is worth. I don't want to rip anyone off, but I also don't want to get ripped either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

From what I've seen with exotic game, the green cape price is usually about 10% of the total cost of the hunt. For example, an axis deer hunt is about $1200 - $1500 and the cape is worth about $120-$150 depending on size, condition, etc.

I think Nilgai hunts run about $800 - $1000 which would make the cape about $80 - $100

Just my opinion . . .

I forgot that you said it was tanned. Add th tanning cost onto the above for a tanned cape.

I think you can get more for the cape.Going by what Jerry said above, most nilgai hunts in texas run between $1,500 and up to around $2,200 so if the cape is worth 10% of the hunt, you could get a little more then what Jerry said. And since a nilgai is so much bigger then an axis I think it would be safe to say the nilgai cape would be worth more then an axis cape.Hope this helps you.
