I would like any input on ways to install removeable antlers on a moose. He is 60'', I have considered using half inch square tube and some square stock. Setting it with epoxy. Any ideas would be great.

I'm working on a similar project now and was thinking the same thing for the antlers. I am casting a repro skull for the antlers to fit into. Where I work we often join pieces together via a key way. Same basic concept only we weld a ridge of metal into a pipe interior and slip that over round stock that has a groove milled out of it. Then that is set in place with a tapped hole and set screw. We hold up thousand pound parts this way - even more (solid bronze lifesize T rex mounted via key ways). Square stock with box tube over that will accomplish the same effect.
I did a big elk last year using the square stock (in the antler) and square tube (in the skull) method. Anchored them both with thinned down Bondo. Works slick. This method was described in detail in a back issue of Breakthrough. Unfortunatly I don`t have it handy to give you the issue No. but I`m sure someone smarter than me has it.
Is half inch square stock/tubeing heavy enough for 45inch antlers?
Thats lots. I used 3/8 on the elk and it was fine. You`ll be suprised how solid it is when installed.I project the square stock out of the antler about 6 inches
