It always amazes me when something new works!

I am working on my first sheep. It is a barbado ram I killed with a bow. I read a lot about the various ways of getting the horns off the skull, and decided to go with the "microwave method." After 3 zaps in the nuker a few minutes at a time and a little prying, those baby's popped right off. Truly amazing! Is is just me, or do any of you get excited when something new works out good? :)

I think you were very lucky not to get a nasty blister on at least one horn; be very carefull as 2nd time may not be a charm.

Taxidermists started useing the microwave shortly after they hit the market about 15 years ago!

I know what you mean. Even if taxidermists have been doing something since the advent of the wheel, when you try a technique new to you and it turns out, it can be exhilarating and rewarding. I feel the same way when I go out to my shop and watch the temperature rise after a few sticks of wood in my stove...it has been done before, but I still love the results.
