Hair slipage problem rephrased

Submitted by Garry on 02/28/2003. ( ) 152.163.189.104

On the earlier post when I said it was OK before the Ultra-soft I meant it was already tanned but it srunk so I figured I would rehydrate and break the hide but when I started to break the hide hair started to come out in clumps on the face above the nose. I left it the solution for 24 hours the directions said 12 to 24 hours and I added Bactericide (PS-650) from Van Dykes.
Thanks for all your other info.

Garry,
Ultra soft is for rehydrating salted skins or flint dries skins. I would not use it to rehydrate a tanned skin. Van Dykes sells a product designed specifically for rehydrating tanned skins . here is the name of it.

Hide Relaxing Compound
$3.99
Item no : 01347236

1 lb.

Hide Relaxing Compound is a product that has been highly successful for over forty years. It softens hides and scalps so they stretch even larger. This product is especially good on Alum tanned hides. This 1 lb. carton will make 5 gallons. Also, it is a good cleaning agent for dirty hides and furs.

Actual freight will be charged for shipping
