I just picked up my white tail deer shoulder mount and have heard several people say how over time the hair dries out, the ears split, etc. What should I do to have this last a nice long time. It's my first buck and considering the investment I don't care to let it deteriorate any quicker then it probably will.
Also the antlers got blood on them from the processor when he caped it out. They were VERY white the day I shot the deer and the taxidermist didn't clean them at all, or isn't blood something that will come off? How can I clean the antlers?

Since your deer no longer shed his hair, "deterioration" is inevitable. You can slow it down by keeping it out of direct sunlight and from direct exposure to a dry heat source. As for the blood on the antlers, hot soapy water on a cloth will remove the blood.
