ear tag

I have a corsican ram that had a small steel ear tag {about a 1/8 by 1/4 inch slot}is this going to be a problem in turning that ear? This is my first shoulder mount & I would like to do a pedistal.Think this is jumping the gun not having experience at shoulder mounts at all?

Take the tag OUT

I hate skeet goats anyway, but when I get one, I take a pair of pliers and straighten the lock tab, open the tag and slip it off. Then I open the ears and finish as I would any other mount. When dried, I punch a hole back through the earliner and reattach the tag the same way it came off.

for bondo ears

If you plan on using bondo for the ears turn the ears like always
(you will have to cut threw the scare tissue with a scalp where the
tag was) then tan the cape. When you are ready to do the ears don't
try to sew the hole were the tag was, it will just make a wrinke and
a deformed ear. Instead take a small piece of tyvex (the stuff they wrap around houses and make shop tags with) and super glue it over the hole. Then turn the ear right side out and fill with bondo and shape the ear. You can finish the ear after the mount dries by just painting over the tyvex patch if there is alot of hair to hide it or sculpt over with apoxi then paint. Hope this helps
