I have a boar head that is wrapped in two heavy green trash bags and frozen. My question is how long is it safe to leave frozen before it needs to be worked on ? It has been in the freezer about 5 weeks now.

Lee, That boar will hold a long time in the freezer. I have mounted deer that have been frozen as long as 5 years and had good results. Now, the real long stored cape will be more difficult as far as turning the ears due to drying of the tissue but still very doable. Probably a good rule would be not to hold over 1 year. Why not save freezer space by skinning well and salting. The salt dried cape will keep well. Enjoy, Aaron H.
