Bighorn w/ mismatched dorsal cut

Submitted by Scotty on 04/25/2003. ( ) 66.17.99.181

I recently picked up my 190 class full body bighorn mount from the taxidermist. The taxidermist performed a dorsal cut himself. On the finished product, the natural horizontal line between the dark and white fur at the top of the white rump was out of line by about 2 inches.
The guy stated that is how it was originally, until I sent him a picture, with him in the picture.
My question is, can this be repaired, dyed or other?
Or did I "learn my lesson".
Is this a common thing? I started to wonder if he did not have his rear girth measurements right when he started to put the hide on and decided "it was good enough" or "nobody would see it" and trimmed off extra hide.
Do not know what tanning process he used, as he said he did it himself. Do not know how he affixed the hide to the form or any of that stuff. The rest of the ram looks really good.
Thanks for your help.

Bad sewing

The reason that your ram is out of line is because the taxidermist did not sew the dorsal cut evenly. The hide would have to be re-soaked and then re-sewn. I also find it hard to believe that the rest of the ram looks OK. It's ashame it have such a giant ram mounted with a rookie mistake liked bad sewing, that's taxidery 101.
