I recently acquired a couple of Kudu horns and would like to polish them up to a glossy finish. I can't seem to find any information on how to work with them and am a leery of just "experimenting". Can anybody help?
Thanks

one of the best products I have found, and have been using on all my african horns, is Danish Oil finish......it will soak slowly into the horn, harden it and give you the most natural finish......it will not change the natural color of the horn......first wash and scrub the horn with a bristal brush using Comet.....then srub again with Dawn dish washing soap....set aside untill completly dry........with a chip brush, coat the horns with the Danish Oil, and let sit for 3-4 hours.....with a clean rag, now rub off the remaining oil, and polish with another clean cloth.....set and let dry for 24 hrs. This will give you the exact finish you are looking for as well as sealing and protecting them from the elements.
Like cow horns, they will have to be sanded with progressively finer grades of sand paper until you achieve the finish you want. Because of the shape you will probably need a drum shaped power sander to do the job.
