I'm almost done and was hoping to have some one have a look at my latest project , my first open-mouth- anything. (boar)
The paint job in the mouth is alot brighter in the pic than it really is - (which is very annoying, tried to take pic without flash but they didnt work).
Anyhow, i would like comments from others.

The little guy loves it so who the heck are we to judge. LOL.
It looks like a nice job, especially knowing what you had to do to get that mouth in like you did. I know the paint doesn't show up that well. It looks like the eyes are a little large but again, if you'd had those good boar eyes Noonie sells, that size would have looked more realistic. The ears are a little to erect to my liking and I notice that you don't have his bristles standing erect. You do that by pushing the cape FORWARD on the mannikin instead of pulling it back. Then you back brush every day till they're standing on end.
It also looks as if you got a little "happy" with the black lacquer. The nostrils should be a little lighter inside, but I think for your first hawg, you done good.

Great Job!

I agree with George on the 'fine tuning' pointers. You did great for your first open-mouth mount! It looks better than many I've seen that 'experienced' taxidermists have done! Congratulations!

=)

um, yeah

I had my doubts about the eyes.
i gave my supplier my measurements and he told me about these new eyes he had just got in with white round the edges - "do you want to give them a go"? and i used what he sent as i thought 'who am i to question a pro's opinion. (i will speak up next time, lol)
I did try to get the bristles up (read 'how to' in the archs), just didnt seem to get it right.
Thanks, it helps for the next one.

I put my finger over the flash on my camera if I can't turn it off and/or I don't want it.

I Would Buy It

Hi Samantha as a collector and taxidermy lover I would buy it and I think your customer would be happy.Listen to the experts on the fine points and keep up the good work as it seems like its hard to get the good quality parts over there.I think if you have to improvise with inferior parts when you obtain the good stuff you will be far better then most.

thanks Paul

Thanks for your reply.
As for parts and accessories - yep.
I have decided to look into registering as a business. A big, scary and confusing step for me, but i think i am just going to have to take it.
I want to advertise that i'm ready to take on customers, but i have to register first to do it legaly and to get the tax benifits.

From what iv'e been told so far, doing this (and a few other red tape things),i just might be able to import materials from the US in a more 'cost effective' way.
i.e taxes and charges on imports .

As it stands now, from the hunters i have talked to here, not many are willing to pay a higher price for me to use quality materials from the states.
(if i put my price up to cover obtaining materials from over there, without registering).
