If it is a large enough gator that it has strong thick bones in the jaws, ect ect, soak it in pure bleach for a few hours, it will eat the thin skin layer over the bones in no time
Joshua, Tom is right but if the skull is not a big heavy boned critter the bleach may be too harsh. I am actually doing the same thing right now on 2 OLD gator heads. After soaking them in water over night I put them in a black trash bag, sealed it up and placed it on the roof of my shed where the sun could hit it. After a week I took the skulls out and carefully hosed off the loose skin. Also removed all loose teeth and saved them "in order" to replace later. I replaced the skulls into the bag for another week or 2 to finish the rotting process. After spraying them again they are now in th "bug barn" which is where I put skulls and such for finish cleaning nature's way. This is just an old out building that dogs can't get into and the bugs are carrion beetles, ants, dermistids and a host of others (whatever chooses to come). Soon I will take the skulls out and soak a couple of days in water with Dawn detergent in it, then brush them up good and clean and let dry in the sunshine. Now, bleach is quicker but if you use it remember to soak ALL bleach out with multiple rinses to avoid the bleach eating away at the bone later. Enjoy, Aaron H.
