I just took in a shouldermount caribeau in Velvet shot a coupple weeks ago in Canada, I will probably use Preserve-It by Rittel's. unless someone has a better solution? But what I was curious about, is that if any one has tried Penetreat? It is a borate-based wood preservetive and is highley efective in the prevention of wood rot and wood-boring insects. the active ingredient in penetreat is (disodium octaborate tetrahydrate- a refined form of the natural mineral borax) I have used it to preserve my log home against all insect infestation, rot, mold and mildew.. I might try it on a small whitetail, but dont want to lose the velvet on the caribeau.
