nose nightmare

Ok, I am just a beginner and recently sent in a longhorn cape. When i got it back like the bottom 1/3 of the lip is gone, can anyone tell me what to do to cover this up on the mount, i was just planning on using wax and clay to texture it, then paint over that to make it look like the rest of the nose. Any help would be very usefull.
Thanx

Yea, I was also going to see if anyone could tell me why this happened. Was it my fault some how? or should I continue to be unhappy with the tannery?

Lip fix...

Not a big deal Brandon. When mounting, tuck lips with what you have as usual and let mount dry. Repair damaged area with apoxie sculp or other similar product and texture the pad using reference. Was it there when you sent it out? If you fleshed it to thin and it was hanging by a thread then yes it could tear off in the tumbler or else were. Normally tanneries dont shave to the lip line, they leave it for you to finish. If it happens again I think you know the answer.

thank you

Thank you very much for your advice. Im assuming its partially my part, and partially the tanners. I had the lip reasonably thin before I sent it out. Next time I guess I'll know. Thanx again

As Paul said, Use epoxy to recreate the missing lip.

Its really no big deal as long as you use the proper repair materials.
AVE's Apoxie Sculpt works very well for this and can be done a little bit at a time until you have it were you need it.

Forget about the wax and clay, you are just asking for trouble, it may look good to begin with but the clay and wax will crack.

It takes a ppretty good taxidermist to make wax work well.
