Submitted by Louise Whitten on 09/08/2003. ( whitladyb@aol.com ) 64.12.96.200

Can you give me any suggestion to taking dried skin & hair left on cow skulls I bought to paint. Between the horns & around the eyes are pretty bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The skulls are for my pourch. Thank you, Louise W. (Most is off, & are fairly cured out).

dried skin

You can get it off by putting it in hot water, hotter the better , as near to boiling as you can get. Check it every half hour and the skin should loosen up to where it will come off fairly easy. Add some soap also to help clean up skull and freshen up from the smell. I've done it many times. skullery.....jeff....<><

Throw it in a barrel of water and forget about it for about a month. The hotter the weather the quicker it will work. After removing the skull from the water it works well to take it to the car wash to clean it. really, we've done it. This also works great with a fresh skull.
