I just recieved my elk cape and man it stunk.
My question is can i put it in a pickle before i take any meat off.
it was shipped for 6 days and set over the weekend.

It could be badddddd. But get the meat off and trun the lips and eyes, if its still ok salt the hell out of it on a slanted board.
You could go straight to a foric acid pickle at a pH of 3.5 and maybe save it.
In a bad stituation I would buy a new plastic trash can and 10 gallons of 5% vinegar and soak it overnite.
