I am planning on mounting a bighorn ewe. I want to try sculpting and casting my own head and attaching it to the neck of a comercial form. I was wondering what hardness of clay to buy for this (I want to sculpt over the original skull)and also I was wondering if anyone knows if a mouflon sheep form would have the right size of body for the shoulder section. I killed this sheep myself but unfortunately had taken my measuring tape out of my backpack to measure a moose rack the day before and did not put it back so I do not have a body length or circumference to go from! It is a 6 1/2yr old sheep with a 7 5/8 inch eye to nose measurement. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm a total rookie doing my first BH ewe so I take this for what it's worth. Research Mannikins and Jonas have BH ewe forms that should work for the body. With limited amount of forms available, I expect to have to alter some. The RM forms are 7.25 E to N.
A lot of the reason that I am doing this project is so I can try the sculpting aspect as well as mounting, I have just never attempted it before (sculpting that is). The only reason I am only wanting to sculpt the head this time is because I was not able to get proper measurements for the neck and shoulder part for the sculpture. I would like to use McKenzies new mouflon wall pedistal form if it will fit, that would save altering a straight shouldered form to wall pedistal. But of course I do not want to have to make major alterations for size if I dont have to either. Any thoughts on this or the proper clay hardness would be appreciated. Thanks.
