Need info on Babiroussa

Submitted by Terri on 10/03/2003. ( thaken@chartermi.net ) 66.227.255.226

I could use a little information on a Babiroussa Ram. I have a customer that just shot one at a game preserve and wants me to mount it. I have searched for information on them but all I came up with was a picture a dead one with the hunter that shot it. Is this the real name of the ram?

Thanks
Terri

with the proper spelling. Barbarossa Ram.

Just a fancy name

for a domesticated ram of questionable descent. Texas Dalls, Corsican, Barbarossa, and a few others all fit the standard sheep form.

Another name . . .

It's known on game ranches as a "Rambo Ram". On farms, they are Merino sheep. Good luck on the mount . . . they are horrible to comb out!

What do I use to bleach the ram? Any information on bleaching will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Terri

Terri, I do several of these wooly bully critters a year, I highly recomend sending them to a commercial tannery, I use New Method Fur Dressers. They come back nice and white, and already combed out. Pretty easy to mount. Good Luck, Tim

Thanks Tim

I am going to take your advice and send it out. I just called New Method and they are reasonably priced and don't have to bad of a turn around time.

Thanks for the info.
