Need some help on Wild boar or russion boar

Hi
I'm mounting my first boar I don't do alot of exotic mount.I was wanting to know what the difference is from a wild boar and a russion boar.I need a form with 11 eye to nose but I can find one but they have a russion boar that size can I use the russion boar form.

James, The short answer is "yes".
"Wild" boar is the term used for most free ranging (or hunt preserve) hogs having some russian boar blood. True russian boar hogs are not available in the states, as far as I know, though there are places where they are nearly pure such as the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina. Facial features of the true russian boar are most notably the long narrow snout and exagerated tusks of adult males. Common in the southern states are ferral hogs which are basically domestics that have been released or escaped and reproduce in the wild- also commonly called "wild boar". These hogs will generally have a much broader snout which is the main issue for taxidermists. As far as mounting them I have had no trouble placeing the capes of barnyard escapee hogs onto russian type mannikins as long as the measurements were close. Enjoy, Aaron H.

Noonkester, Joe Coombs and WASCO catalogs have wild boars with 11" etn with different neck sizes, 31" to 37".
