I was talking to someone over the weekend about getting started into taxidermy and he said I should get some video's and I said I have some from Van Dykes and he said that they are out dated along with their forms. So I was wondering if their is any place I could get good forms and videos?

Garry,
Van Dykes is a very old and a very respected company. I learned more taxidermy from simply reading their catalog in the 1950's than with any other source available at that time. Their videos are old (like most you'll buy every place else), but the information remains valid. They offer many forms you can't find with other suppliers and their main line of deer and big game is changing as we speak. You'll have to judge by what you like or dislike in a product, but don't take such a blanket statement for anything other than ignorance. Taxidermy supply is a very competitive business and businesses don't survive long that refuse to change to meet demand.
I was just wondering if it was true or not. I tried Taxidermy back around 1975 but for some reason I lost interest but I am tring it again but then I always bought my forms from Van Dykes and liked them.
Sure there have been some changes in taxidermy over the years-but the basics are the same. This ain't rocket science we are doin. We are just workin with a bunch of dead animal skins right? Van Dykes is a good company-but there are many others too. Try Research Mannikins-I know their videos are not too old-I have some by the Birdmaster General that I got from Research-they are great. Skullboy.
suck - they have to be modified - i have used a number of them and had trouble with every one - i have since switched to McKenzies - they are the cadillac of forms
