Am preparing to attempt my first mount (A Boar head) and was wondering if it was possible to tan the cape useing Lutan-F and not tumble the hide in a drum. After watching Rick Carters video; no where does he mention tumbling the hide. It appears he goes from the tan solution, to a wash, to manniken prep while the hide drains to mounting. Am I getting this sequence right? Any input will be greatly appreiciated. I don't want to send the cape to a tanner as I have bought all the chemicals and want to tackle it myself. Thanks

i drum in sawdust with mineral spirits for five minutes then
in plain sawdust for twenty minutes, dries the hair and cleans it to
and you will get alot better results if you start with dry hair. if you dont have a drum use your dryer set on cool, i did for years with good results. i believe it is well worth the time it takes to do these few steps. if you have a chainsaw you can have sawdust in five minutes, just dont use pitchy wood. willow works good for me.
good luck
