I'm doing a bear skull. The skull is seperated from the lower half. Is there an easy way to join these togeather? What's the usual procedure for such a mount? I'd like to put it on a plaque. Any suggestions? THANKS

Mounting a bear skull

I would suppose by the lower have you mean the jaw, if not the rest of this info is not going to help any. To attach the lower jaw for a skull mount to a plaque, you could first expoy the jaw to the skull where it hinges in the back. Then run a line of epoxy down the rows of molars on both sides. Let this dry. Attaching the skull to the plaque can be done a few ways. Some cut the back of the skull off, giving a flat surface to mount with. The way that I would do it, would be to drill a hole in the back of the skull, where if you sat it on a flat surface the point that would touch, is where you would place the hole. Also where the jaws touched you could make a hole. Then on your plaque/pedestal, you would make these same holes, drill and run a screw up thru the bottom. This will securly attach the skull to the plaque. Hope this helps, any questions contact me. Skullman
