Filthy sheep cape. Help!

Submitted by Pops on 12/10/2003. ( )

I've had a customer bring in a sheep cape (White Texas Dall). It is FILTHY! - Blood, mud, sticks and matted wool. I do in shop tanning with Lutan F and have been able to handle some bad deer capes, but I've not seen anything like this before. How can I clean it and fluff up the matted wool? I froze the thing because I don't have a clue how to begin. Help!

I'd send it to a tannery. They can handle the sheep capes and they really come out nice. Not bad for 35 bucks or so.
