We have a buffalo skull. The outside is clean, but there are still stinky tissues inside the skull. We've let this thing set around for a couple of years but it still stinks. Some fuzzy little brown worms came out of it about two years ago when I poured some bleach inside.
How do we get the stinky stuff inside this skull out, so we can put it on the wall?

Go to the car was and blast the brain cavity, that will clean it up very well.
Ray, That stuff is probably dried hard as a rock now. You will need to rehydrate it first. I would try soaking the head in a tub of water for a few days. Watch out so you don't let it soak too long and damage the horns. After the stuff softens up, you can probably blast it out at the car wash. Good luck!
Ray, I wouldn't pour bleach into a skull- can permanantly damage the bone. Dermistid beetles it sounds like, chewing on that old buff-jerky. There's some old cartilage in there maybe if the nasal bones are intact as well as some old sinus tissue. I think I would soak it about 24 hours then bag it tightly in trash bags and place in a protected area that gets sunshine.(maybe wait for warm weather) A couple or three weeks of sweating it out in the hot trash bags will rot out the remaining tissue -now hit the car wash! Enjoy, Aaron H.
