Buffalo Horns? - After their off the skull

Submitted by Mike on 01/21/2004. ( ) 67.27.165.229

I was wondering if you guys boil buff horns after they are off the skull. I let these rot until I could pry them loose. They appear to have a thin layer of membrane inside the horn itself. I searched the archives and there is a lot there on how to remove the horn, but not much on what to do after the caps are off. Just wondering how you treat them. Also, how long do you let them dry? Thanks

Also, has anyone cast buff horns? How did they turn out? Thanks again

If you leave the horn in water it will begin to separate. The horn is made of hair and it will begin to pull away.
