Seeking opinions on capes that are obviously taken at the end of the rut with rubbed bare areas.
Do as is or try and repair? Some rubs are just in impossible spots. (ie under the chin and to the left of the neck, meaning if i cut it out, the hair pattern is all out of whack)
Also, a client wishes his boar with mud on as it was shot. i read the archs - is the resin and dirt mix the way to go on skin?

Samantha, I mount deer pretty much "as they are". Rubbed areas, fighting scars and torn ears are what deer are made of. If a deer is really rough and will not mount well at all I suggest to my customer that a replacement cape might be prettier. I would not get into a lot of cutting out bald spots as the time involved can be great. If you do, charge for your time. Enjoy, Aaron H.
