Now before you tell me to check the archives, I've already done that. Many posts talk about removable antlers, but don't explain exactly how they work. Could someone describe? How are the antlers actually attached to the skull?

Drill through the skull and at lest 5 inches into the antler.

Using a 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch 8 inch long piece of square steel stock.

Wax the stock with Johnsons paste wax, insecrt the steel into the hole. and center it you can play a bit of apoxie sculpt in the deep hole to help center the Sq. stock.

Mix 50/50 bondo and polyester resin, dont over catylize.

Fill the hole, let setup. do the other side.

fill the skull plate to anchor the sq.stock.

Now all you do is hit the sq stock with a hammer and remove it.

You can now cut the antler off at the base of the burr.

Insert the stock and replace the antler on the stock. works great!
