Was curious how many people actually use the stuff and if its really necessary? Also is it necessay to use antler stain?

deer have ever walked by your tree stand with stained / waxed antlers? Just a thought to ponder.
Every one of them. Maybe not artificial stain or bees wax, but they're certainly stained and polished. LOL
I like Plastic polish and a flannel buffing wheel.
They have a paste wax that's out and it's pretty good stuff.
I routinely stain (airbrush) almost all the antlers that come into my shop. You see, I scrub them intensely once I've removed the skull plate. It's an issue with me to remove all the blood, debris, urine, and whatever else may be lingering on them. All these materials contain bacteria that may eventually harm the mount, so I remove it. In the process, alot of the antler color is removed also and must be replaced or you're left with faded dead looking antlers. Kenneth, every deer that has walked past my tree stand has had stained antlers.....hmmmmmm. Just a fact to ponder.

I think everyone here knew exactly to what I was referring. It is not like we have bleached racked whitetails walking through our country side. But I am 100% positive, none of them have an artifically stained and waxed antlers. I honestly didn't intend to be a smart ass.
Congratulations Headbanger, I am glad your techniques work great for you. It just hasn't ever worked for me. We are allowed to disagree on this point. You know what they say about opinions. Oh well, if you want to stain and wax, more power to you. If you don't, you don't. Good Luck to all.
