I need some advise and opinions on a trophy Russian Boar mount............My customer wants a simple shoulder mount, but when I defrosted the boar to take out the skull, the skinner had gutted and made that no-no belly incision all the way up to 6 inches from the lower lip.My question is,"What is the best way to sew and repair this incision with the least amount of visible repair? As we all know the hair on the chest is few and far between."My customer knows he made a mistake and wants me to do the best I can on this.Money is no object to him.I just need some of your expert advise..............

It should have ample hair to hide the stitches on a shoulder mount. In any event, whenever I have to sew where hair is thin, I do the following, fit the hide on the form. Making sure everything is where it needs to be. Mark where the suture line will be, then I cut a grove in the form about 3/8" wide, and the same depth. Before mounting I fill the grove with clay. sew the hide with a whip stitch, keeping the stitches close to each other. pull tight, but not so tight as to wrinkle the skin. then put it on the from lightly tap the stitches to set them in the clay. and dye the hide that should give you acceptable results
Just finished one that had no arm pit skin but plenty on the back. His sons first hog that was to be mounted no matter what.I mounted as normal, let dry then mixed dirt with table top resin & covered where there was no skin. Also put mud over the hog as if he had just got out of a mud hole.Looked very good.
Sew the incision first from the inside. After mounting it, let it dry and tap it out with a hammer. You can fill in any small gaps with Apoxie and then blend it in with paint. Most warthogs come back from Africa split up the brisket just like this....
