Pronghorn Comp. Mount ? - Lip

Hello, I have a quick question. I am doing a pronghorn antelope for my state competition. On a Pronghorn, does the lower lip show? I have some reference, but I don't have a photo showing the lower lip position. I am doing it as a shoulder mount upright pose.

I searched and couldn't find what I needed.

Thanks

Mike, as a general rule, all mammals show some lower lip, some more than others.
hope this helps.

Bill - Thanks for the reply and the link. I had a mule deer in the competition last year and I got dinged for not showing enough lower lip. Now I just got Scott Brewer's video "Mounting A Competition Mule Deer" from Research and he says mule deer show NO lower lip. hahaha I just can't ever win. Maybe I should email the judge that is coming and ask him. haha

Thanks also to Gary.

Hey Bill Yox, what do you think?

I think it varies from one animal to the next, plus expression, etc. Its very common when using pics from penned animals that many show lip, because they might have hit the fence and torn the connective tissue at one time. Most good judges may say they PREFER to see lip, but wont say its wrong either way. If I were doing a comp pronghorn, Id razzle dazzle the boys by parting the lip to expose the teeth inside. Leave no stone unturned...

Thanks Bill

Oh, if only I was good enough to razzle-dazzle anyone in the profession. I am just trying to get a few years of competition under my belt and learn the "basics" of competition mounts. The judges eat me for lunch on the basics, let alone trying to do something special.hahaha Anyway, the Antelope is now mounted with a slight 1 1/2 inches wide lip showing about 1/8 inch. I will be detailing him for the next couple days.

Thanks for the reply. And you need to come judge Utah again. (Even if we have some beligerant contestants.)
