I use the shed system sold by McKenzie. It is all aluminum and has the ability to adjust the width of the rack.Cost is approx. $35.00

I've got a kit that I sell for $35.00 plus shipping, you supply the apoxie. The kit comes with instructions, the skull, 2 part plastic for attaching the antlers to the skull. skull paint to paint the connecting area. The skull has 2 block for easy attaching, it's flat on the back, you can attach a hanger to it or attach it to a panel. No grease problem or flaking problems. I accept visa, mastercard, paypal, business check, or cash. I can send picture if you interested.
thanks, Marshell
I just mounted a really large Mule Deer where both antlers were sawed off like sheds. I drilled the bases and bondoed a couple oflong lag bolts into each antler and then welded the bolts onto a piece of flat metal. The only hard part is holding them just right as you weld the bolts. Two people can do this easier than one. I then reinforce the base with a mixture of fiberglass, bondo and fiberglass chop.
I talked to a guy recently who mounts a lot of sheds. He drills the bases, puts in a couple bolts with bondo leaving several inches sticking out. He then mixes up a plastic bowl full of bondo and holds the bolt ends in this mixture until it hardens up. Use a lot of hardener so you don't have to hold them all day to harden up. He then shapes the bowl full of bondo before it hardens up too solid. He says it's plenty strong this way, but I haven't tried that method. It might be worth a try.
Or as was mentioned earlier you can buy a kit. Hope this helps....
BW, Best way I've found is to drill a 3/8 hole into bases about 3" deep, bend a piece of all threaded rod in a "distorted U shape" which supports the antlers in proper position (use another pair of antlers for reference), asasemble with bondo, add a little wire and finish coat of bondo for support. If these are really large antlers use heavier rod and drill deeper larger holes. Enjoy, Aaron H.
Take a look at this website that I ran across It looks like it would work great for sheds www.freewebs.com/skull-technologies
