yes i was wondering if i could get some help i bought a cape from a tannery it was an elk cape dry tanned i think mineral tan well the soak up inst. said no more than 20 min. then sweat over night well the hide stretched out nice but the ear cartridges didnt how do i go about soaking them up more without ruining the hide i put it in the frezzer for now any help will be apreciated?

YOu can put very hot tap water on them add a bit of Rittels relaxer, then you will peel them off to use earliners, keep the cart. handy they are the patterns for the replacments.
with wet towels over night they will be soft the next day, you can put the skin in a plastic bag overnight and refrigerate if is hot outside, if not just lay the bag on a table overnight.
