Boar Jaw Set

where can i get a detailed mohr boar jaw set without the tusks ? i want to use the real 5 3/4" tusk and i also want to use the joe coombs mannikin but they dont sell a detailed jawset w/o the tusk. maybe i need to order the detailed jawset and just remove the tusks but its expensive to do that.

The "real" tusks will eventually spiderweb and crack on you.

But you have to request them without as their catalog numbers usually reflect matching the mannikin with a jawset where they are already installed.

Don't sweat the "detailed/non-detailed" thing. Coombs sells the non detailed jaws with or without sockets. The only differnce in the non-detailed that I can see is the blackening of the teeth. Take your non detailed, brush on some water based black umber paint over the teeth, making sure to get in all the cracks and cavities. Then wipe the surfaces of the teeth with a slightly dampened rag right away. This will leave that rotted teeth look in the cracks, thus your "detail" has been added. Don't use laquer base paint for this since you would have to wipe off the outside of the teeth with laquer thinner. This will cause the pink paint in the jaw "gums" to rub off.
