I have mounted a few whitetails. But never a Red stag
I skinned like a whitetail and salted. I pickled in safety
acid and shaved the hide twice, smoothe and fairly thin.
Any suggested supply companys for a good form? What about
holding the skin up on the antler burrs? Is there a big
slot or hole for the tear duct skin in the form,or do I
make one, Any different method to attach the antlers?
a
Any other advice would be apreceated. Thanks Jim.

has several great red stag forms by Don Holt. I have used them all and they mount up very nice. You need to cut the tear duct out pretty big they have a deep duct much like a elk . I use 1/4 in lag bolts three inches long to set the antlers. I also use mache to cover the skull plate you neeed to put a layer all the way up the antler base. I use Buckeye hide paste and tack the skin right up tight to the antler base. feel free to e-mail me if you need anymore help.
