trophy head storage

I work for a museum and we are going to be placing our trophy head collection into an off-site storage facility. The mounts range from small antelope to very large water buffalo. I am wondering about the best way to store these. We cannot mount them on the wall, they will have to lay flat. Does anyone have any experience in the storage of head mounts? Should we crate them, or simply cover them (with what?)? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

You are etter off crating them

with an easy entrance panel so that you can spray a bug killer in twice a year or so. Leaving them out in the open....especially in a storage lockup, leaves your trophies suseptible to all bugs and vermin brought in by other storage clients or some that are already there.
