Musky odor on Catalina

I finised my mount and has a musky odor to it. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the odor or products to use? It is 10x less than what it was when it was killed.

Needs a good washing with a GOOD soap. There is some lanolin in the hair I think (according to Bruce Rittel). It's in the archives, just type in "Smelly Goat"

I washed it three times with lemon scented dishwashing soap with a bunch of lemon juice added to it. I used a water hose to rinse it. Next I blow dried it. I then sprayed it with Neutra-Air (spray that's supposed to neutralize odors, not just cover them up). Doing all that got rid of about 80% of the odor. Tom

Real soap works somewhat better

The soaps tom mentions tend to be citric acid soaps or detergents. A real soap with a higher pH will work far better. I use Epo-Grip Bloodout/Degreaser and then since with Downey in the rinse water. No goat smell on the last one I did. In fact, it smelled downright sweet.....for a goat.
