Elk Sheds

I'm sure that this has been covered before but I can't find it. I found a beautiful set of matched elk sheds last weekend in the 380" class but they are weathered badly. Must have been laying out for a couple of years. I thought that you sprayed them with white paint and then stained them. How does that work and what kind of stain do you use ? Any other ideas ? I just want to restore them. Thanks for any help guys.

JR, If you click the orange search button to the left you will find TONS of stuff under "staining antlers". Very weathered antlers usually have some cracks and my be a little chalky. These antlers require a good bit of work and generaly do not yield excellent results. I would suggest considering keeping them as they are if they have laid out for 2 years and enjoy their weathered beauty. But, if you are determined--enjoy, Aaron H.
